Nocella’s appointment as an interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York—which covers Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Nassau and Suffolk counties—comes after U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-New York, said in April that he would not support Nocella for the post, effectively blocking his nomination.
