YMCA: Lending a Helping Hand to Youth in the Triad
On Saturday, December 18th, attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler of Daggett Shuler Law appeared on Triad Today to talk about the many fantastic programs that the local YMCA offers to support youth in the Triad. Richard Daniels, Executive Director of the William G. White, Jr. Family YMCA was their guest. Watch the segment:
The mission of the William G. White, Jr. Family YMCA is all about helping people reach their full potential in spirit, mind, and body. They do this through a variety of programs, including (but definitely not limited to!) the Summer Learning Academy, youth swim lessons, youth basketball, the Black Achievers Program, the Youth Achievers Program, and in-school programs. They’ve also introduced several new initiatives, including their Teen Referral Program, which offers free memberships to youth ages 12 through 18, access to tutoring, a trip to Camp Hanes, and more opportunities for the kids to take full advantage of the Y’s offerings.
The YMCA holds a yearly Mistletoe Run, which raises funds to fight childhood obesity locally. The 38th annual event was recently held in early December, and Attorney David Daggett was thrilled to emcee the event once again. This race is a wonderful event that brings the community together while benefiting a great organization and fantastic cause.
