Navigation Spotlight With David Daggett: The Smiley Triathlon Festival is Coming Soon!
My favorite weekend of the year is coming up, and it should come as no surprise that it involves my favorite sport of all time-triathlon! I have participated in triathlons for over 40 consecutive years, and these swim, bike, run events hold a dear place in my heart. They are a gateway into a healthy, fitness lifestyle for so many, which is why I am a proud founder and sponsor of the Smiley Triathlon Festival weekend!
Held each year in the beautiful Clemmons West neighborhood and pool, the Smiley Triathlon Festival features the Kids for Kids Triathlon for kids ages 7-15 on Saturday and the Smiley Sprint Triathlon for adults on Sunday. The nationally acclaimed Kids Race is one of the highlights of our community and has been featured by USA Triathlon this year as one of the best kids races in the country. Now in our 21st year, the Kids for Kids race brings smiles to all who attend. We even offer a fun run for younger siblings of our Kids for Kids competitors, so everyone gets a chance to join in the fun! We are thrilled to introduce young athletes to the sport in a safe and fun environment.
The Smiley Sprint Triathlon is the perfect event for athletes new to the sport or who are trying out a triathlon for the first time, as well as appealing to the seasoned competitor racing to beat their own personal best time on the course. Our races are in a safe, encouraging environment and are perfect for anyone wanting to give it a tri (pun and spelling intended). All are welcome to come and participate in a full triathlon, or to be part of a relay team in legs of the race are split with other athletes.
