Safe Sober T-Shirt Design Contest Winner Announced on Triad Today
On Saturday, April 20th, attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler appeared on Triad Today to announce the 2024 Safe Sober T-Shirt Design Contest Winner and show off the winning design.
The Safe Sober program, now in its 34th year, holds a T-Shirt Design contest every year. Starting in the fall, local high school students have the opportunity to submit designs for the following year’s now-famous Safe Sober t-shirts that have become an emblem of the initiative. The winning design is printed on thousands of shirts that are distributed at community events throughout the Triad. These shirts have become something of a ‘badge of honor’ among young people and promote Safe Sober’s mission of making the right choice when it comes to decisions about drugs and alcohol.
This year’s winner is Keeghan Davis, a junior at Career Center and Mount Tabor High School. She learned she was the winner at a surprise announcement held at her school. David Daggett and Griff Shuler, along with local dignitaries including the Mayor of Winston-Salem Allen Joines, Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough, Mount Tabor Principal Donald Wyatt, and Career Center Assistant Principals Yu’Vonne James and Brian Lee, were there to support Keeghan and the Safe Sober program. Keeghan’s proud parents were also in attendance. The first shirt off the presses was framed for her, and she received a $1000 college scholarship. Her teacher, Mr. Mark Underwood, also received a matching grant for his classroom.
