Addressing Food Insecurity in the Triad with Second Harvest
On Saturday, November 19th, attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler of Daggett Shuler Law appeared on Triad Today with Eric Aft, CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina, to raise awareness of the very real food insecurity issues that affect the Triad. Watch the segment:
What Second Harvest Does
Second Harvest’s mission is to address hunger and its root causes in Northwest North Carolina. Their service area encompasses eighteen counties, and they distribute food with over 500 regional partners, including food pantries, nonprofit organizations, soup kitchens, after-school programs, and senior meal programs. In a post-pandemic environment, the need is greater than ever as people struggle with high inflation and reduced government assistance programs. And the need is dire; 1 in 8 people, and 1 in 6 children, face food insecurity in North Carolina.
