Bags, Supplies, and a Great Start: The Daggett Shuler 2021 Backpack Program
On Saturday, August 25th, attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler of Daggett Shuler Law appeared on Triad Today to discuss the 2021 Daggett Shuler Back-to-School Backpack Program. Mark Batten, Executive Director of Community Engagement for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, joined them to emphasize the impact this program has on young learners. Watch the segment:
Now in its 7th year, the backpack program has become a Triad tradition. Five elementary schools in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System are selected to receive 50 backpacks stuffed with supplies, hand-delivered by David and Griff, along with members of the Winston-Salem Police Department. These bags include what a student needs to kick off the school year – everything from pencils to notebooks, folders, rulers, earbuds, and more! The administration teams at the individual schools then distribute the bags to their underserved students.
Providing supplies to underprivileged students is not only about supporting the schools, but also about giving kids the strong beginning they need in order to succeed academically. By setting students up for success at a young age, we all benefit when they contribute to our Triad community as adults. After all, they are our future community leaders.
