Reaching Teens and Saving Lives: The Safe Sober Program on Triad Today
On Saturday, May 15th, attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler of Daggett Shuler Law appeared on Triad Today to tell the Triad about the exciting changes coming to their annual Safe Sober Prom Night program. Watch the segment:
Seeing the aftermath of drunk driving accidents and helping victims of these awful accidents drove Attorney David Daggett to cofound the Safe Sober Prom Night program to effect change in the Triad. Now in its third decade, Safe Sober Prom Night focuses on raising awareness of the dangers of drug and alcohol use among high school students. The positive peer pressure generated by students who took the pledge to stay sober is a wonderful motivating factor among young people. Historically, Safe Sober Prom Night was a once-yearly event taking place in late spring.
Safe Sober Prom Night’s message of staying drug- and alcohol-free isn’t just applicable during prom season, though. With over 600,000 students reached so far (and counting), David and Griff decided that the natural next step would be to evolve the program to one that would reach more students, year-round. The program is now known as Safe Sober, and will be engaging students throughout their high school career, from freshman orientation to graduations.
